Owens Corning and Other Acoustic Insulation

Making your own acoustically treated room with acoustic insulation, wood frames and fabric is a great way to save on money and get great sound. Here at Acoustimac, DIY materials for audiophiles, home theater makers and professionals alike are available at affordable prices.

A do-it-yourself acoustics enthusiast should know that the key item for acoustic treatment is proper insulation. Available here is an assortment of different insulation types to choose from, depending on how you would like to improve the sound in a room.

For fiberglass acoustic insulation, we carry Owens Corning 703 in 1" and 2" thicknesses. Owens Corning 705 in 2" is also available. While the 703 is used for building high and mid frequency absorption panels, the 705 is used for absorbing or trapping lower frequencies.

A cheaper alternative for acoustic sound insulation material is Mineral Wool. It has the same acoustics and fire rating as the Owens Corning 703 and 705, but has less density. They come in two weights: 3 lbs and 6 lbs.
